It actually might be kind of dangerous to count only US citizens during a census, particularly in areas with high degrees of tourism. If a natural disaster hit an area officials would need to have a good guess at the actual number of people there, and not just US citizens.
Asking that wouldn't mean you couldn't count visitors and/or illegals though, just makes it really unlikely that illegals would respond. Remember, during a crisis the first thing to always do isn't protect yourself: grab your driver's license, get the social security and birth certificate out of your safe, grab bank statements to prove who you are, and then run for cover from the tornado, earthquake, fire, volcano, etc. Then, when you line up for assistance along with everyone else affected by the event they'll know you're a US citizen!!! |

This is about redistricting and funding. If you get to count the illegals, you increase the population of an area, which allows for the redistricing, and you also increase the need for US Taxpayer's Public Funds, to go towards helping people that shouldn't be here to start with. |

You're right, though, this would really on matter in places like New York City, LA, or places that have extremely high foreign tourism. I really was trying to just lighten the mood with my relatively sarcastic post in light of every other post spouting Democrats NWO crap. |

"Senate Democrats have blocked a GOP attempt to require next year's census forms to ask people whether they are a U.S. citizen."
This is pretty sick. The idea that we will waste time trying to get a measure put together for the sole purpose of getting it defeated so it can be a rally cry against the opposition in the next election. Everyone in Washington is guilty of it. |

There are millions and millions of legal permanent residents living here. What about them? If you ask about citizenship, they're going to say they're citizens of the country where they came from even though they're legally here and may plan to live here forever but just are not eligible for citizenship yet. These people pay taxes and deserve to have their tax money right apportioned to their area.
If you simply count citizens, you're going to get completely skewed numbers. |
